    Fabulous EVERYTHING!

There were 6 of us staying: me, my husband, my two sons in their early 20s and my parents. What a great time we had. Flawless from the time Juan picked us up at the airport to the time he dropped us off a week later. The house is great, every bedroom was air conditioned and roomy, plenty of seating/relaxation areas outside, loved our pool time, and you can't beat the beachfront location! We especially loved sitting under the beach palapa, either in the chairs or the hammocks, beer or margarita in hand, and watching the huge waves roll in. Juan, Bali, and the extra staff were all wonderful - Bali's meals were FABULOUS (fresh tuna steaks, steak and lobster, enchiladas, fish tacos, amazing breakfasts, etc) and Juan's fresh lime margaritas were SO good! He always had some ready in the freezer for us. We took Kathy's recommendation and did the Ally Cat full day sailing adventure to Las Marietas, $90pp including all day drinks, meals and snacks (GREAT deal!) - we all had a blast and highly recommend this activity to everyone of pretty much any age. Having free use of the SUV was great as we drove into Sayulita one day for souvenir shopping, and into Punta de Mita for dinner. This vacation rental is such a great deal, probably the best you'll find in the PV and surrounding area. A huge thank you to Kathy for sharing this lovely piece of heaven with us - we truly had a relaxing holiday. Notes: - We found it extremely hot and humid, even more than expected - so just a head's up: if you're not used to this type of heat you should probably avoid summer months. - Biting insects: We read lots of warnings about mosquitos at dusk, but we found the no-see-ums the most annoying - so, yes...definitely bring bug spray for evenings. - Tipping: Juan and Bali really work hard to make your stay the best possible - please be sure to bring extra $ and tip them well as they really do deserve it. :-)

    We keep coming back!

We have been visiting Casa de las Abuelas with friends for several years and each trip has been incredible. The combination of a great house with a perfect common area and pool, as well as the hammocks on under the palapa at the beach for afternoon siestas, and incredible surf breaks on the quite private beach make Abuelas a perfect getaway. Juan and Bali also both make for a seamless vacation. Juan is great—resourceful, reliable and accommodating—and Bali is a wonderful chef with so much great, authentic local fare up her sleeve as well as good options for kids. Each experience is unique and wonderful. I give Casa de las Abuelas my highest recommendation.

    Service was over the top

We had a great time on our vacation. Juan is really an amazing person. From the moment he picked us up at the airport he was all smiles and jokes. He made us feel comfortable and nothing was a problem. We had a large group 11 in total and he handled us well. Bailey cooked breakfast and dinner for us. Its truly amazing and there was always plenty of food. From standard American fare of bacon, eggs and pancakes to more Mexican style cooking she handled it all effortlessly. Be very careful of Juans margaritas for happy hour. You will be flat on your face after a few of those. The rooms were great and the house worked really well for us. There are only reason I am not giving this rental five stars. First, there was a wedding the night before we arrived. When we got there decorations were still up everywhere along with broken glass and lots of trash on the beach. Someone in my group immediately stepped on a piece of glass and hurt their foot. Had they hired someone to come and rack the beach, clean up the trash and take down the decorations it would have presented much nicer as a first impression. It felt like we had crashed a party the day after. The 2nd reason is that the chairs around the pool really need to be replaced. Since you spend so much time sitting on them its a bummer that some were broken and unusable. Both of these issues really didn't do much by way of making this anything less than a stellar experience. Go for the service...especially if you have kids and don't want to cook its super easy to just sit back relax and let Juan and Bailey do their thing. We had a great time and I would highly recommend this rental.

We have been staying here for ten + years and absolutely love it. Juan and Bali are fantastic and the location is out of this world. The beach is incredibly beautiful and tranquil. A beach lover's dream!

    3 generations

We've just returned from a great family vacation at Casa de las Abuelas. What a perfect spot for family fun. The kids loved the ocean and pool and the weather was so delightful that the adults enjoyed relaxing under the palapa. Juan and Bali were wonderful hosts, cooks and caretakers. We loved gathering around the table each morning to enjoy a breakfast feast. We took the kids into Nueva Vallarta to swim with dolphins and spent a day on the Alley Cat, a catamaran charter out of La Cruz. Juan made all arrangements for us. There are great restaurants nearby. These excursions were certainly allot of fun, but what I'll remember most are the times we spent at home in our lovely Casa. It's a perfect balance of serenity, comfort, beauty and whimsy. I just couldn't be happier.

    Best kept secret!!!

A group of us have been staying here for the last 15 years! This is the best kept secret in all Nayarit. Wonderful location for surfers and also families with children. We just love the staff and accommodations, couldn't ask for a better vacation! Thanks Kathy!

  • twinmammaplus1 06/01/2015

Our family of 9 just returned and had a wonderful time!!! There were 5 adults and 4 children ages 10, 5, 2 and 2. Our caretakers were Juan and Baly. They are extremely special people. Juan speaks English very well, and is caring, sincere, and absolutely goes out of his way. Baly is a trained chef and her food is absolutely delicious - and that is coming from someone that doesn't particularly love Mexican food. The breakfast is quite a spread - fresh cut fruit, fresh squeezed OJ, bacon, eggs prepared differently every day, and pancakes or french toast. Dinner is also very impressive. My favorite meal was a super fresh tuna steak with a garlic drizzle and crispy garlic on top - amazing. She served it with a fresh organic salad, fresh dressing, and the best pasta I've ever had. If you go in the summer please note that it is super hot - the humidity is very strong and you can easily get dehydrated. Juan recommended the best time of year to come is November - April, so we will return at that time in the future. I never felt unsafe, in response to the one poor review on here. We never locked our safe either. Rather I felt like Juan and Baly were like family. Also our son had an asthma attack, and I stupidly did not bring our nebulizer, and Juan took us immediately to the doctor in Punta Mita (who he knows personally) and it was a way better experience than any doctor visit in the states. Super clean and modern and they had everything we needed including a nebulizer to rent, child mask, O2 monitor, and all meds we needed.

    Family Reunion

We have enjoyed staying at Casa de Abuelas with and without children but this time we decided on an all adult reunion with my brothers and their spouses. So there were eight of us to enjoy the pool, the hammocks, and the beach when we wanted to be together but had the privacy of our own suites for alone time. It was great as always. Juan and Baly are wonderful hosts, providing a variety of well prepared food and drink. The fresh squeezed orange juice every morning with breakfast was awesome. The outdoor pizza oven was a treat. Baly made pizza from scratch with our choice of toppings for the pizza/pool party one night. We are planning to go again next year.

  • skithebeav 02/01/2015
    Great as always

We have been to Abuelas 4 times now and it is great every time. They continue to improve the property with new updates, additions, etc and our stay is always wonderful. From the house, to the pool, to the beach, to the food and so on.....excellent. We are a pretty adventurous family and this place is so great we can't help but return time and again.

    No Worries Vacation

We spent the first week of February at Casa de las Abuelas. We could not have been more pleased. Kathy the owner was so great to work with and Juan and Baly at the house could not do enough for you. How could one not enjoy themselves - Ocean - Whale Watching - Heated Pool - Birds Singing - Juan making Margaritas and Baly - well the food was great and such a nice presentation. And to top it off a suburban to use to go exploring. Our trip was great and we hope we can do it again. No Worries Staying at Casa de las Abules - Just Relaxation.

Exceeds Expecations Every Time - Best Vacation Ever!

We just returned from our second stay at Casa de Las Abuelas and once again had a fantastic time. We were joined by two new families (10 of us in all) and had plenty of space for everyone! Rosa and Gilberto make the stay heavenly by grocery shopping, cooking/serving breakfast and dinner and amazing homemade quacamole and salsa and margaritas every afternoon. If you are looking for relaxation for some and plenty of activities for others, it is the perfect balance. Sun, swimming, surf, snorkeling are right out in front of the house or just down the beach. There are great excursions nearby by to town of Sayulita, Murietas Islands, shopping in Bucieras etc. but no need to leave the house if you don't want to! We will definitley be going again and again!

  • Eric 11/02/2014
    Whales, waves and weight gain!

I thought I would write this review as soon as possible so I didn't forget to mention anything. Our group of 6 just returned from Casa de las Abuelas 2 days ago after a week long trip. The surf We are all beginner/intermediate surfers so we were looking for fun, easy waves and that's what we found. About a 5-10 minute walk to the right of the house there's some good waves and zero crowd. Walk another 5 minutes and you'll come to the main Burros break. It's a little more crowded but nothing crazy. I'd recommend surf booties because there's light reef and rocks, but the waves are safe and lots of fun. We surfed here every day for a week, there were pretty much always waves to be had, but some days were better than others. The food When we heard that the house came with a cook we thought it was a nice perk. Turns out, this was the best feature of the rental. Rosa is an INCREDIBLE cook! We ate at the house for every breakfast most dinners. We had chicken tacos, BBQ ribs, Steak, fish tacos, chicken/steak fajitas and every single thing was fantastic. Rosa's partner in crime Gilberto is also a fantastic bartender and hilarious. Just make sure to stay active while you're there or you may come back with a few extra pounds. The house You can probably tell from the pictures that it's a beautiful spot. The house totally lives up to your expectations. Beautiful beach, safe community, everything in the house is clean and well maintained. We had no bad surprises, and plenty of good ones. Also for Canadians visiting, for some reason they get satellite Shaw cable...so we actually watched a couple hockey games and a Raptors game when we weren't sitting by the fire pit on the beach. The area Gilberto picked us up at the PV airport and it was about a 45 minute drive to the house. One night we went for dinner in Punta Mita - a little resort town about 15 minutes down the road. If you're looking for a nice dinner on the beach this is a great spot. Tons of nice restaurants varying in price all with beautiful set-ups right on the beach. We chose Margaritas and they set up a table for 6 on the peninsula heading out into the water. There's a surf break in Punta Mita but we didn't check it out. If you're looking for a full day and some nightlife head to Sayulita. Probably about 35-40 minute drive. Tons of great restaurants, surfing, and bars. Ally Cat If you're looking for a party day, do the Marietas island booze cruise. No regrets! Thanks Kathy!

Amazing... Exactly what we were hoping for! PARADISE!

I stayed at this Villa with my Fiance in October, just the two of us to celebrate her Birthday. I must say this is the definition of paradise. It is very private, very clean, and nice and peaceful. We went to visit my Dad in Nuevo Vallarta at a condo, and I could not imagine being stuck in one of those high rises... and then sharing your little pool with 50 people or more! The Villa has a very mexican feel and decor to it, which we wanted over the high end luxury look that you can get at home anywhere. Rosa is an amazing cook, we never really requested much and just told her to make us whatever you wanted and I was very very impressed every day!! Always fresh food... fresh Guacamole and salsa daily! We are used to resorts so brought a lot of clothes with us, but Rosa came in and did our laundry for us too which was very nice when on a vacation, next time we will pack a lot lighter! Punta de Mita is a short 8 minute drive past the Villa and is cool to check out if you aren't up for the crazy bustle of Puerto Vallarta. But I do suggest checking out the Pirates of the Bay adult cruise in Puerto Vallarta, it was a really cool show and the food was awesome. Make sure to watch a few sunsets from the hammocks on the beach and also watch all of the Hermit crabs start crawling around as the sun goes down! Amazing sunsets every night! Also we brought two of the smaller plastic chairs at the beach right down to where the oceans waves would barely reach and sunk them in there and sat and had our Coconut Mojitos with the water hitting our feet once in a while! One small tip, get those OFF mosquito coils and just light them an hour or two before sunset and you won't have too many bites when the sun sets. The Suburban included is a Huge plus as rentals can be around 500 to 600$ just be careful driving as it is pretty crazy out there...unless your from Alberta and are used to it! Not sure what else to say other than Thanks Kathy for being so helpful with the booking and everything. NOW BOOK THIS PLACE BEFORE I DO AGAIN!!!!!

We loved every minute or our week long stay at this beautiful home. Food and service were impeccable. Gorgeous views along with a very peaceful and almost private beach. My group of 7 had more than enough room and were quite comfortable. We will be back!!!

    Very Happy Traverler

We were at this beautiful casa for a week in mid March 2014. A great trip all around! The staff is excellent , the food also excellent! We saw whales, sunsets on the beach! The beach access is perfect, so very private! We hardly saw anyone on the beach as far as we could see! The beds are comfortable, each room has its own private bath! I easily give this 5 stars all around! It is Great having a driver, no worries about transportation, or food, just relax and enjoy!

    wonderful vallarta home

We recently stayed in the house for eight nights. It was our extended family including grandparents and two families with young children. The house is perfect! Everyone had so much fun. The pool, beach, and neighborhood are all beautiful, safe and fun. The caretakers are also such wonderful people. Highly recommended!

    Best Bet in Mexico

We had an amazing time. The house was clean and inviting. We enjoyed sipping coffee in the morning under the palapa and watching the sunrise. Our caretakers Rosa and Gilberto were perfect hosts. Gilberto makes an exquisite margarita and Rosa's meals were sumptuous. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay a little longer. I don't know if I ever want to stay in a hotel again. The beach is gorgeous and the pool was always a nice way to end the day. We will definitely come back. We felt safe and were very well attended. *The pie place in Bucerias had some of the best cheesecake ever!!

The Best Place For A Family Stay

Reading the other comments on this property I am convinced that the one negative comment, the commenters must be confusing this place with another or they are extremely unhappy people. We found Kathy's place and our hosts, Rosa and Gilberto, to be a remarkable experience and we will book again next year! We have been visiting Mexico for 12 years and stayed in many places in and around the Puerto Vallarta area and this was our favorite place above all.

  • Olas 06/03/2013

This was our 6 or 7th trip to Abuelas and it has become a family tradition. I saw one negative review on here and the rest very positive. Believe the positive reviews, they are accurate. This place and setting define tranquility. Rosa and Gilberto are wonderful, warm, gracious hosts and the owner, Kathy Young, is simply delightful to work with. For this trip she suggested a boat trip with a new tour outfitter, AllyCat, and it was a huge hit. Simply, this house is the envy of every house in Burros. If it is booked, try Kathy's other house Casa Amigos which is equally wonderful.

    we will be back

everything was just great and we will be back at least once a year. the food, the location, the staff, the access to the suburban were all great. the owner was great to work with and i simply don't have a bad thing to say. as its stated, just bring your swimming suit and get ready to have a great time!

  • Heidi 10/01/2012
Heavenly, private and right on the beach!

Don't bother looking at any other homes to rent in the area - this is a gem and can't wait to go back. So happy friends had recommended it. The house has everything you need with the major plus of a car, airport pick up and drop off, and the two most lovely locals to take care of you: Rosa and Gilberto. Rosa and Gilberto Our mediocre travel Spanish was plenty good enough to get by (and they understood a bit more English than our Spanish so no real language barrier). And, they are both SO SWEET. Rosa is an amazing cook and will plan meals with you everyday (don't miss her chicken mole, baja fish tacos, and chile relleno!). She kept the house spotless and even did our laundry! Gilberto made killer fresh lime margaritas, ready for us every afternoon. He also kept the garden and patios swept clean and made sure the pool was crystal clear. Beach AND a pool My husband and I both surf so didn't think we'd use the pool but we were in it everyday. The ocean was really warm so it was a wonderful way to cool off. The Burros main surf break was a short paddle up (5 min. with our longboards) but you could also walk. We didn't hit a great swell so a few days we drove 5 min. to La Lancha surf break and enjoyed that a bit better. But if you didn't feel like getting in a car, Burros would do just fine. The house's beach was very clean and secluded. We only saw a few people early in the AM and out for walks at sunset. I laid in the hammock under the house's private palapa by the ocean all afternoon and red books. No hassles of vendors or other people. Hard to find that anywhere The House Plenty of room for a gang but we were perfectly comfortable - the house did not seem overwhelming with just the 2 of us (although 3 bedrooms went unused). Comfortable beds, beautiful mexican tile throughout, TV (didn't think we'd use but surprisingly the SF Giants were in the World Series!). No issues with plumbing, electricity, etc. Note: a given in the tropics, bring bug repellant for sunrise/sunset. Central location We were so happy at the house we didn't get out much. We drove to Sayulita (a little too touristy for us but lots of shops and restaurants). Punta de Mita closer, smaller with shops/rest., PV not far if you need more action. Close to airport a big plus Kathy's a pleasure to deal with and makes sure you have all details about the house before you get there. We felt perfectly safe in the house and gated community. For a worry free trip, book this!

Better than the finest hotels in Puerta Vallarta!

We have been all over mexico and stayed in hotels and condos and prefer Casa de Abeuelas and Amigos in Punta Del Burro to anywhere else. We just returned from our third trip to this house and stayed for a wonderful two weeks. We LOVE everything about it. The staff is exceptional and personable, the house is immaculately cleaned, the food is tremendous and the relaxation superb! Rosa and Gilberto are a delight to have around and do everything they can to make your stay what you want it to be, including home prepared five-star meals. They even made virgin Pina Coladas for the kids without being asked. Las Distilideras beach is a 5 minute drive and is the best beach in all of the PV area. Sayulita for surfing and Bucerias and Punta Mita are delightful visits within 30 minute drive. The area is very safe and driving anywhere easy. I recommend this house to all of my family and friends and everyone else has come back with nothing but perfect reviews!

    Anniversary Getaway

This is our third time over 20 years, to return to Casa Abuelas for our anniversary. As always, we had a wonderful and delightful time. Gilberto and Rosa took excellent care of us. It is always a pleasure to be waited on and cooked for by such friendly and hospitable folks. Each night they asked us what we wanted for meals and the next day and we enjoyed delightful Mexican meals. They surprised us when they returned one morning with a bean cook pot and tortilla warmer that we had only hinted at wanting. However, they went above and beyond all expectations after our son came down with an ear infection from swimming and was in great pain. Rosa found a doctor who spoke English and Gilberto drove us there! We would highly recommend Casa Abuelas - the home, the beach, the car and the service are all delightful.

    A Perfect Vacation

I was checking the calendar of Casa de las Abuelas and noticed the negative review. I felt that I had to respond to it.. I have been going to Casa de las Abuelas for several years. It is absolutely my favorite villa, and I travel a lot. I have never felt unsafe. In fact, the opposite is true. The days and nights spent there are so restful that after a week or two, I am able to return to the "real world". Rosa nd Gilberto make you feel so special. They are kind, helpful and hard working. Everything is always in perfect shape. I enjoy working with the owner, Kathy. She really wants everone to have a trouble free trip and does all she can to make sure you do. I also noticed that all the other reviews are positive. If you are reading this, I would dismiss the bad review and believe the good ones. I know I will be returning to the villa this November.

Perfect Setting for a Family Celebration

Our trip to Casa de las Abuelas could not have been better. Everything surpassed our expectations! It was a perfect place to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary and birthdays with our family. And, yes we felt perfectly safe as you indicated we would. Thank you for sharing your paradise with us. We loved swimming in the waves, beachcombing and relaxing in the pool. The hammocks are the best on the beach – what a special treat. Rosa and Gilberto were very gracious in all that they did to make the vacation perfect. You have done an incredible job of making your villa a best ever holiday destination, Kathy. We look forward to booking a visit again in the future – I know now why I will have to book well in advance!

I do not recommend this place

It is not a safe and secure house as advertised. We were robbed of valuable items while, we believe, we were out. When we told the person working in the house about the robbery, he was not surprised whatsoever. In fact, he continued doing what he was doing, shrugged his shoulders, and said it had been 'el dueño' (the owner) as they call this person that goes around Punta del Burro breaking into private property. I wonder if this has been reported before, or if they are all in on it. Once we realised we had been robbed (31st December at around 7pm) I asked for the owner´s number since she was the person I had the contract with and none of the people working in the house said they had it. Which, we thought, was very strange. Eventually a local manager gave us the contact number, but not without aggravation and delay. We felt completely unprotected and violated, and our New Year holidays were ruined. The fact is we did not feel safe, the idea that my kids had been sleeping downstairs with the house unlocked (we were never given a key) and that there was someone going around robbing, made us take the decision to leave immediately. We discussed this all with the owner and she said she would give us a full refund if we got off the premises immediately, which we did. Of course, she never did give the full refund as agreed! She gave us some money back but it took a long time coming and we had to chase repeatedly. There are expensive houses in the area but most of them either have very tall walls and/or VC security systems. So the area clearly isn’t safe or secure. We have rented many houses in Mexico and have never had an issue. The garden was not particularly clean, the pool was dirty and covered in sand (not to mention freezing but we were never told it was heated so I accept this). The chairs on the beach were filthy, the bit of sand right in front of the house covered in fag butts, plastics and other detritus, so you could not walk bare foot. Every other house has the sandy bit right in front immaculately kept. The couple working in the house were very often absent, driving their kids around (who were on holidays) in the car. I will definitely not recommend this place.

    Multi family stay

We spent 10 days at this property. Gilberto & Rosa are fantastic hosts. The property has a great location on the beach. (Not recomended water for small children, but great for surfing & boogie boarding) Very safe complex with 24 hour security. The beach fire pit is great and a good way to end the day. Most everything you need is there from hair dryers to kids toys.

    Family getaway

We just returned from a week at this location, and we will definitely go back. It is absolute heaven to stay right down on the beach; we started with our coffee by the water in the morning and ended the day watching the gorgeous sunset. The couple who do the cooking, cleaning, etc. are delightful. Rosa is a great cook; we only went out to dinner one night during our stay. We rented paddleboards and kayaks and spent our days in the water or lounging by the water. The gated neighborhood is secure and quiet, very low key and relaxing. This was a good value for the money spent and we look forward to returning next year. There is nothing like the sound of the ocean to lull you to sleep.

  • Surfer 08/01/2011
    Great location for surfers

Just returned from an extended weekend. Awesome location - quiet, safe, secluded neighborhood. The only thing between your door and the ocean is the beautiful pool. Short walk up the beach to a couple of great longboard waves. Consistent and mellow - great place for beginner and intermediate surfers with gentle, safe takeoffs, and long rideable walls. Rosa and Gilberto were delightful and Rosa is a great cook (request the chicken mole!) Stable and fast internet, HD TV set, stereo to plug you iPod into, AC, plenty of places to get away from your group for some quiet time, shaded hammocks right on the beach. It's hard to imagine anything the house is missing.

    A wonderful place to vacation

We love this villa...our second time and will not be our last. Pool on the beach, a cook and a car, what else makes the perfect vacation? Accommodations were lovely, and Gilberto and Rosa make it a trip to remember. I would recommend this to everyone! Fabulous time!

The most amazing vacation we've ever taken!

Case de Las Abuelas the most amazing vacation - so much more than we expected. Much nicer than the crowded town of Puerto Vallarta, much more beautiful and relaxing, and only 30 minutes north of the main town. The 4 bedroom 5 bath home comes with a suburban and a wonderful couple, Rosa & Gilberto, who will attend to every need. They arrive each morning and leave after dinner cleanup. You will hardly know they are there unless you need them! All meals are cooked by Rosa, but Gilberto will help cut up vegetables, etc. Gilberto attends to the fresh margaritas (or whatever you'd like) at the outside bar area, the barbecue, serves and cleans up. We'd sit under the outside palapa chatting, enjoying drinks, fresh guacamole and salsa prepared by Rosa. After breakfast Rosa cleans all rooms, and Gilberto cleans the grounds, pool, etc. They disappear for a few hours to pick up our grocery requests for dinner, and are back about 4 or 5 to start preparing drinks, appetizers and dinner, whatever we have requested. There's a menu of choices to browse through, things like fish tacos, enchiladas, grilled chicken - but they're just suggestions. For example, one night we asked for half shrimp and half chicken enchiladas, another night barbecued fish and vegetables. They are quick to learn anything you request, even if it's not their standard mthod of cooking (such as grilled fish tacos instead of fried)! Oftentimes, there's the lovely scent of beans slow boiling on the stove with fresh herbs during the day as they are cleaning or shopping. One night we made some brownies, which Rosa and Gilberto had never experienced. We gave them a half dozen squares to take home to their kids, and as the ladies left for our after dinner powerwalk around the community we noticed Rosa REALLY enjoying the brownies in the car right before they left. We were hoping she actually got some home for her kids :-) The flight from OC, Calif is just 2.5 hours and direct, perfect. Gilberto met our group of 7 at the airport. We found him right away in his baseball cap (as owner Kathy Young had described). He drove us to a large grocery store about 15 minutes later and Gilberto asked us what fruit we'd like for breakfast, if we wanted beer or wine - well, we went a bit crazy and bought a load of great vegetables and fruits, fresh limes for margaritas, and whatever else looked enticing. Rosa and Gilberto had shopped earlier and had all the makings for fresh guacamole, fresh margaritas made with bags an

    What a Pleasure!

Let me start by saying that typically a family vacation is NOT something that brings a smile to my face nor warms my heart...long distance travel with the extended family is usually complicated by everything, the travel being the least of our concerns. This was not the case with this amazing home! We traveled from all over the globe (Boston, London, and LA) during peak winter storms to make our holiday this year something special. We knew were were going to have a ball, but we were BLOWN AWAY!! The house is incredible and the staff is out of this world! We experienced a mix of lazy days in the hammocks, down the road surf excursions, adventurous jaunts to the zipline and sightseeing road trips to neighboring villages. We ate well, slept well and had the time of our lives! Kathy, you have set up the perfect home for family vacations with kids and family members of all ages. And the use of the car was just the cherry on the top! Thank You!!!

    Can't wait to go back!

Kathy. we had a great time, thanks for sharing your wonderful place. the grounds and casa were well maintained, clean and comfortable. Rosa and Gilberto are amazing hosts and we had a good time talking to them and getting to know a bit about them. Gilberto was always gardening, fixing something and working around the casa and Rosa was a master in the kitchen. her cooking was some of the best we had the entire trip. Oh and Gilberto makes an amazing margarita! they truly made our trip special. even if you don't speak Spanish get to know Rosa and Gilberto, your trip will be a richer experience for it. thanks again for a wonderful vacation - we're already trying to figure out when we can get back down there. all our best. Austin & Sarah.

    Most Relaxing Vacation Ever

We had an amazing time at this villa. Rosa and Gilberto were excellent hosts, chefs, bartenders, chauffeurs. We left there with new friends. Gilberto's margaritas were the best I ever had! The accomodations were impeccable. The villa was very clean and extremely well-maintained inside and out. I have already recommended this villa to everyone I have talked to. The beach at the villa was a little too rough for some of us lightweights to even get in. We spent alot of time combing the beach for shells and tons of hermit crabs which are really fun to watch. We loved eating at Punto de Mita-do not remember the name but recommended by staff and Kathy. We also had a great day in Sayulitas shopping and eating at Don Pedro's.....excellent food. We all found some really beautiful silver jewelry here at a good price in a jewelry store close to the square plus it was one of the few air conditioned places so we spent quite a bit of time in there cooling off. The trip to Caletas was beautiful except for an extremely rough ride over. We went to downtown Puerto Vallarta, and I do not recommend this. It is too hot and too touristy. We definitely plan to return and hopefully stay in the other house that Kathy owns except we want Roas and Gilberto for our helpers! : )

A True Mexico Beach Front Home a Must for anyone who wants to go to Mexico

This was our family's second visit to Cathy's home and won't be the last. If your looking for the most comfortable beds, best working Airconditioners, best home made food, best and hardest working grounds keeper etc. then Cathy's is the place. The only suggestion I have to make your stay better is talk to and get to know Rosa and Gilberto. They are the most wonderful Mexican couple you could ever meet and are there to make your vaction a true experience. We even invited them to eat with us one night and bring their two lovely daughters. We had so much fun with our broken Spanish and thier broken English as we played card games, rosted Marshmellows on the beach fire pit, it was the laughing highlight of the trip. Tip them well because they more than deserve it! The Laubach Family

    Great Place

We just returned from our fourth trip to Casa Abuelos. The house is very pleasant and the location is perhaps the best in burros The owner is great to work with and Gilberto and Rosa are wonderful. This is a great trip for families as you have everything you need right there - house, pool, beach, hammocks under the palapa. Punta Mita, Sayulita and Puerto Vallarta are all close enough to visit for a day trip and then you can return to the peace and quiet of Abuelos and ask yourself why you ever left. If you are looking for a fun and friendly house on beautiful stretch of beach where you are taken care of by a very nice local family then this is it.

    We'll be back

What a fantastic way to spend vacation, eating Rosa's fantastic meals and drinking Gilberto's unbelieivable margaritas. Listening to the waves crashing on the shore at night while eating smores by the fire pit. Pictures don't do it justice. Can't recommend this enough! Only complaint is that a week isn't long enough. Thanks Rosa and Gilberto, you were fantastic!
